Team Members
Dr. Ash, M.D.
Co-Founder, Ophthalmologist
A Los Angeles native, Dr. Ash began his academic career at Brandeis University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a dual degree in Philosophy and Biology. He earned his medical degree from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine, graduating near the top of his class. During his time there, he contributed to several key publications focused on global health and the systemic challenges of blindness.
Dr. Ash completed his surgical training at the University of Texas at Houston, home to the highest-volume trauma center in the country. It was during this period that his commitment to health equity deepened; while working at the Lyndon B. Johnson County Hospital, he focused his efforts on providing high-level care to at-risk and vulnerable populations in Harris County.
Currently, Dr. Ash is continuing his specialization at the University of California, San Diego, with an emphasis on glaucoma surgery. Driven by a mission to reduce the burden of vision loss, he remains dedicated to improving outcomes for the visually impaired and underprivileged communities.
Shaya
Co-Founder, Engineer
Shaya studied mathematics at UCLA, in her hometown of Los Angeles, California. She is now pursuing a dual masters degree in Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Management at CU Boulder. She hopes to pursue a career in medical device engineering after finishing her studies. In her free time, she likes to dance salsa, swim in open water, and run in the mountains.
